The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins is holding FREE screening events that are held throughout Baltimore City and are a large part of the recruiting and information collecting process for the SToP Glaucoma study.
Please read the important points that you should know before coming to a SToP Glaucoma Screening.
Led by Dr. David Friedman, the former Dana Center Director, the methodology being employed utilizes clinical research and community service to create a screening campaign to gain information about our at-risk population. Spanning over a 5 year period, the SToP Glaucoma study is split over three phases with a goal to recruit a large number of participants:
Developing and creating a glaucoma screening program for high-risk African-American and Latino populations that results in acceptable positive and negative predictive values that can be applied to other high risk populations
Developing community-based vision educational and screening programs
Connecting the underserved community of Baltimore city with necessary vision care services
